Goodbye...

109 hour(s)/day was not enough for Radionomy so Quarterwave is silent from now on. I didn't receive even a single email from them, instead stream, database and the whole radio just disappear... this is not the way to do this and I have bit of a bad taste in my mouth but after all I had a great time creating Quarterwave and exploring music for me and all of the people who ever step by...

Just two covers...

Covers are difficult subject for me. By default I am sceptic and in the defensive mode. Though recently I find amusing to observe change in my behavior. I am still sceptic about the reuse of the songs, but o the other hand I am open to be charmed. Let me show two examples I have found during random musical journey across the network. 

Lets start with some interesting fact from wiki about the original song. The melody for "People Help the People" came into Simon's head unnexpectedly as he arrived in India for a three month backpacking holiday. In order to remember the tune throughout his guitar-less sojourn, he would hum it to himself daily.

Well, I highly appreciate Simon's effort as the song is brilliant.

I suspect that Birdy has very simillar feelings about People Help the People. Her interpretation of the song is simply stunning.

Are you charmed too?

I have one more. Let's quote wiki first: It is often considered one of the greatest songs of all time, with Pitchfork Media placing it at number 19 on its list of "The 200 Greatest Songs of the 1960s", and it being featured in Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All-Time.
I do not know what you think but it seems like suicidal mission to even try to be on the same level with The Beatles. Especially when we are talking about such icon as Tomorrow Never Knows. The most  esychedelic  and experimental song on the Revolver album. Just play the original one and imagine the year back then was 1966.

So who took the challenge? Among few, Carla Azar and Alison Mosshart. Their song was featured in the 2011 motion picture Sucker Punch, where I heard it for the first time. In the movie, this song helps to create intense surrealistic athmosphere. Can it repeat this alone by itself? Is it possible to challenge original? As I am sceptic to the second question, I am very positive over the first one. Carla and Alison did great job.
